Siding replacement on an old house with unique features
This project went relatively smooth for an old house siding replacement.
The customer was concerned about the siding on their south facing wall which was getting very weathered over the years. Also the Corbels on the craftsman style house were not mounted properly and they were beginning to come loose from the wall.
We removed all of the existing siding, trim and corbels. We modified the window jambs as needed for the new window trim install. We then added the proper backing in the wall needed to support the new corbels properly. We dried around the windows with proper window tape and the walls with house wrap.
We built and installed new custom 4x4 corbels that were milled by Snohomish Tree Company. We installed new window trim and cedar siding that was a close match to the existing siding. We installed proper z metal flashings above the windows and trim. We caulked around all windows and trim with proper siding caulk. We painted the siding, trim, and soffit two coats of paint with Benjamin Moore Aura Paint. We did a two-tone paint to match the existing. Spray application for the siding and soffit and brush application for the trim.
One unique feature for this project was that the existing siding ran behind the large concrete and stone chimney. We took the time properly dry in and scribe trim to tie into the chimney.
Was overall a very fun project and the customers were awesome to work for!
